With very little presence online, Cross-Stitch Interior has its work cut out to rank its products for the entirety of the UK.
We achieved:
Cross-Stitch Interiors is a mother and daughter duo based in Bordon, Hampshire. Together, they create handmade, environmentally friendly products and sell them at local markets. One of which is at The Shed in Bordon.
They built their website on Wix and then approached us to start marketing their ecommerce business. They needed new website content and a strategy to start marketing their products and start generating sales.
We cracked on with editing the existing design to make sure the website was super easy to use for customers and that the website was optimised as best it could be for its load speed.
We spoke to the Cross-Stitch team about their products and why they’re unique.
From that, we could complete keyword research to find search terms related to their products and product unique points, and see what customers are searching for online.
Once we had a list of SEO keywords, we worked through each page on the website. We began with the content for their product pages, followed by their category pages.
By category pages we mean the pages before the product pages, e.g., cushions, candles, rugs, and eco hand wash. The category page would then link to each relevant product within that category.
We worked from the bottom up in the website’s sales funnel, optimising the pages that would have most impact, starting with their product pages.
The product pages had no content and they were not structure for SEO whatsoever. It was really important to work through all the product pages to create quality content for customers to enjoy, and to get the pages crawled and ranked by Google.
Product page content allowed us to relate to the customer, engage them and provide more information about the products. While doing this, we could work in keywords to get the website ranking.
Once we went through the entirety of the website pages, we could then move onto creating blogs.
The website is new, so Google had only just indexed Cross-Stitch Interiors’ website.
The plan for SEO is how it should be – getting the technical aspects right before moving forward with lots of quality long form content for our intended audience.
The blogs we’re writing are mainly targeting ideas, inspiration, how tos and top advice pieces. The blogs are targeting high search volume terms, and over time they will rank and really drive relevant traffic to the website.
It was a joy to see Cross-Stitch grow as much as it did in just a year’s work!
